In this memoir, the author explains the importance of the Điện Biên Phủ battle. Was it a historical rendezvous where the French invasion against Việt Nam came to a halt? The old colonialism ended after the signing of the Geneva Agreement in July 1954. After the war ended, both Vietnamese and French people no longer had to shed blood on Vietnamese battlefields. Half of the Vietnamese territory was liberated. Local people could live in peace, independence and freedom.
